Louisiana’s high school football regular season is complete, and so are the Louisiana Sports Writers Associations’ weekly statewide polls.
The LSWA released the results Monday morning of its final survey of sports writers around the state as teams now enter the playoffs and let the brackets‘ outcomes sort through the most important bragging rights.
Edna Karr (10-0), North DeSoto (10-0), Jewel Sumner (10-0), Lafayette Christian (9-1), Haynesville (10-0) topped their respective classifications as they had for much of the season — including Edna Karr and Haynesville from start to finish.
Edna Karr, Jewel Sumner and Haynesville also lead a group of 10 still-undefeated teams around the state entering the playoffs.
The final polls saw mostly minor jostling for positioning with the headline leaps coming in northeast Louisiana where Oak Grove (8-2) moved up four spots to No. 5 in Class 2A to jump Ouachita Christian (9-1) after a head-to-head win Thursday and Ruston (8-2) moved up three spots to No. 3 in Class 5A after rising to the top of a chaotic District 2-5A race.
