LSU added an explosive wide receiver with Division-I experience for the fourth straight day Wednesday via the transfer portal.
Florida star Eugene “Tre” Wilson III became the latest Baton Rouge-bound weapon, according to On3, as the Tigers continue rebuild their offense under new coach Lane Kiffin, offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. and company.
The 5-foot-10, 194-pound athlete joins Jackson Harris (Hawaii) on Sunday, Eugene “Tre” Brown (Old Dominion) on Monday and Jayce Brown (Kansas State) on Tuesday in the Tigers’ growing transfer class, which now features nine players overall.
Running backs Raycine Guillory (Utah) and Rod Gainey Jr. (Charlotte) and tight end Malachi Thomas (Pittsburgh) have also joined the offensive haul, and safety Ty Benefield (Boise State) and defensive tackle Stephiylan Green (Clemson) have helped fit needs for coordinator Blake Baker’s defense.
Wilson is a former blue-chip prospect out of Gaither High School (Tampa, Fla.) who forced his way onto the field for a role as one of the home-state Gators’ top targets as a true freshman in 2023 with 10 appearances, including seven starts, and 61 receptions for 538 yards and six scores.
A pair of injuries derailed his second season in Gainesville, Fla., in which he was only able to play in four games, but still showed major flashes such as a career-high 141 yards against Samford and seven catches against Miami.
Wilson was working his way back into form as a redshirt sophomore with 27 catches for 239 yards and three touchdowns in eight games and five starts before another injury ended his season prematurely. His biggest performance came with nine catches for 121 yards and a 40-yard score against Georgia.
LSU continues restocking an offense tasked with replacing nearly all of its experience and production at the skill positions from 2025 and most of its line.
Six days into the 15-day transfer portal window has brought encouraging recruiting wins to join rising sophomore running back Harlem Berry and rising junior tight end Trey’Dez Green in the cast of weapons in Baton Rouge — for whoever leads the unit this fall.
Headlines now increasingly focus on Kiffin and the Tigers’ push to land one of their top quarterback targets.
Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt was on campus this week, including in a basketball game Tuesday night with Kiffin and linebacker Whit Weeks.
And Washington star Demond Williams Jr. burst into the national sports conversation late Tuesday with intentions to enter the transfer portal after having previously agreed to return to the Huskies.
