Edna Karr appears likely to remain in the Catholic League moving forward after all.

The LHSAA shared with member schools Thursday its updated district plan for the upcoming 2026-28 cycle, including finalized groupings for cross country, golf, tennis and most soccer and volleyball divisions.

Basic classifications — which include football, basketball, baseball and softball — remain a work in progress with principals able to submit requests by Dec. 1 to present appeals at the third and final classification meeting Dec. 4.

The second districting draft for basic classifications would keep Edna Karr in the New Orleans Catholic League, where it has lived since moving up to Class 5A in 2022.

Warren Easton, which joined the Catholic League in 2024 when it climbed to Class 5A, remains tabbed — as in the initial draft released earlier this month — for a move to the more Jefferson Parish- and public school-centric district that includes Bonnabel, John Ehret and Riverdale.

Chalmette remains listed for a potential return to the Catholic League, where the Owls have spent previous stints before most recently spending the current two-year cycle in a league based predominantly on the north shore.

Other major notes for the basic classifications’ districts:

CLASS 5A

  • The second draft abandons a potential shake-up in the Baton Rouge area and would keep an East Baton Rouge Parish league that includes Catholic, Central, Liberty Magnet, Woodlawn and Zachary together and a Livingston and Ascension parishes league.

CLASS 4A

  • The second draft flips Breaux Bridge and Lafayette Renaissance Charter into districts 5-4A and 4-4A, respectively. Breaux Bridge would compete with Beau Chene, Carencro, Cecilia, Livonia and Opelousas, while LRCA would join Acadiana Renaissance Charter, Comeaux, David Thibodaux, Northside, Teurlings Catholic and Westgate.

CLASS 3A

  • The second draft flips West Feliciana and Helix Mentorship Charter into districts 7-3A and 6-3A, respectively. West Feliciana would compete with Collegiate Baton Rouge, Parkview Baptist, Port Allen and University Lab, while Mentorship would join Baker, Belaire, Geo Next Generation, Glen Oaks and Istrouma.

CLASS 2A

  • The second draft moves D’Arbonne Woods Charter and Union Parish from District 1-2A east and Caldwell Parish and Mangham north from an initially proposed District 3-2A to join Beekman Charter, Rayville and Richwood in a new-look District 2-2A.
Delhi Charter, Madison Parish and Oak Grove move from District 2-2A in the current cycle and in the initial draft to join Ferriday and Vidalia in District 3-2A in the new draft.
  • The second draft shifts Lafayette Christian from District 7-2A (including Notre Dame, Kinder and Welsh among others) to District 6-2A (which includes Catholic-New Iberia, Franklin and Loreauville) and bumps Covenant Christian and Houma Christian to a more New Orleans-center District 11-2A (which includes Isidore Newman, Metairie Park Country Day and others).
Northlake Christian would shift from the initial 11-2A draft to District 10-2A (Amite, Pine, St. Helena, et al.) and bump Springfield west to District 9-2A (Donaldsonville, Dunham, Episcopal-Baton Rouge).

CLASS 1A

  • The second draft keeps Cedar Creek in its current District 1-1A instead of an initially proposed return to District 2-1A.
  • The second draft includes major changes and consolidation to initial Class 1A outlook across south Louisiana, including the merging into a nine-team district of Lafayette and Bayou region teams that would include Ascension Episcopal, Central Catholic, Jeanerette, Vermilion Catholic and Westminster Christian-Lafayette.
The Baton Rouge trio of Capitol, Southern Lab and Thrive Academy would join Iberville Parish schools East Iberville, North Iberville, St. John and White Castle, while Ascension Catholic and Ascension Christian would shift southeast to Riverside Academy, South Plaquemines, St. Martin’s Episcopal, West St. John and company in a new District 10-1A.
Varnado would join Catholic-Pointe Coupee, Central Private, East Feliciana, False River and Kentwood in District 9-1A.
