LHSAA Statement Wins of Week 10 (2025)

The final week of Louisiana’s high school football regular season saw playoff-level atmospheres and performances already in early effect around much of the state.

And a long list of teams sent notable messages about their districts’ pecking orders, their potential title contention and the overall dynamics of their series against a top opponent.

Fans around the state who have followed Louisiana vs. All Y’all on social media through the years will be familiar with our weekly “Statement Wins” feature during each football season, spotlighting some outcomes that appear to carry particular punch. This year, with the site launched, we’ve enjoyed the opportunity to devote a little more ink and detail to these spotlighted outcomes.

More than 15 games earned consideration on our “short list” of candidates for Week 10 with these five ultimately topping the list.

Note: “Statement Wins” does not mean the most surprising outcomes of the week. The “statement” may vary between each game, but each game included carried some notable weight.

1. OAK GROVE 34, OUACHITA CHRISTIAN 21

The Tigers caught Louisiana’s attention from the far northeast corner of the state before Week 10 even reached Friday. Oak Grove has felt a bit under the radar this season after falling shy of the Superdome in 2024, graduating a legendary 2025 class, opening this fall 0-1 and then suffering its first district loss since 2022. Ouachita Christian had meanwhile rolled its way to 9-0 in dominant fashion and earned steady consideration as one of Louisiana’s top Class 2A teams. But the Tigers pounced on the Eagles early and didn’t let up, scratching back to earn a share of the District 2-2A title and reminding everyone of their status as a contender.

2. ST. AUGUSTINE 55, JOHN CURTIS 28

The Purple Knights hadn’t beaten John Curtis in more than a decade until they ended that drought with a 28-20 win last season. The teams’ next meeting was not only a double-down that series’ previously lopsided dynamics had shifted, but a near double-up as St. Augustine hung 55 points in the decisive victory — the most for Aug against a district opponent and the most allowed by the Patriots all season. The win slotted St. Augustine into second place in the Catholic League standings behind Edna Karr and ensured that they would not meet again until a potential title showdown in the Superdome.

3. NEVILLE 31, ALEXANDRIA 14

The Tigers got their get-back from a disappointing 2024 loss at Alexandria and continued their strong finish to the regular season to head into this year’s Division-I Non-Select playoffs with some appreciable momentum. Neville’s defense was fast and hard-hitting in its effort to hold the Trojans well shy of their previous season-low scoring output, and the offense managed to get going to build a three-score lead and then swiftly answer ASH’s first sign of a spark. The outcome also potentially notably shifted the teams’ playoff paths with Neville now having home-field advantage throughout the postseason, while Alexandria now looks poised to travel by the quarters.

4. ST. CHARLES CATHOLIC 24, ARCHBISHOP SHAW 0

The Comets continued their impressive rebuild from a 3-6 season in 2024 with another emphatic victory Friday to close out the regular season 9-1, sweep the District 9-4A title and secure the No. 1 seed in the Division-II Select bracket. St. Charles Catholic went on the road and shut out Archbishop Shaw, last season’s district and division champion, to head into the postseason with a pretty strong, straightforward  message of its status as a contender.

5. EVANGEL CHRISTIAN 55, PARKWAY 27

On the opposite corner of the state from the New Orleans Catholic League, Evangel Christian notched a similar Week 10 win to the aforementioned St. Augustine in many ways. The Eagles shook back from a Week 9 loss in which they fell well below their typically explosive scoring average, and they soared their way to 55 points and a double-up of previously undefeated Parkway in a de facto district-title game. Evangel Christian left no doubt this season on the top team in District 1-5A and secured a top-eight seed and a first-round bye in the Division-I Select bracket with the latest win.
