LSU managed to keep most of its 2026 class intact for the past month-plus even with lingering uncertainty at the head coach position.

The Tigers officially announced Sunday that Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin would leave the Rebels to take the reins of the program in Baton Rouge.

And while the new lead man in purple and gold is still working through the details of what his initial staff will look like, many of LSU’s current commitments have been excited by the news.

The early signing period opens Wednesday morning — part of the reason for college programs’ emphasis on securing their new coaches so quickly, even with conference championships and postseason bowls and playoffs still ahead.

Here’s what some of Louisiana’s top prospects, who have remained committed to LSU, had to say about the Tigers’ hiring of Kiffin.

Lamar Brown, University Lab DL/OL: “Great hire. Can’t wait to build a relationship with him and get to work.”

Jabari Mack, Destrehan WR: “Honestly, I’m excited about the Kiffin hire. He’s an offensive mind, and he’s proven he can develop players and put them in positions to make plays.”

Kenny Darby, Airline WR: “Obviously coach Kiffin is a great coach, so I’m excited to see what the future holds and 💍 coming soon!”

Dezyrian “Pook” Ellis, Franklin Parish ATH/DB: “I love it! That’s all I can really say. A lot of people thought it would never happen, but it did, and I absolutely love it!”

Kervin Johnson Jr., Tioga WR: “I’m still locked in with LSU. Glad to know who my head coach will be.”

Aiden Hall, Edna Karr S: “Go Tigers”
