LSU continues adding to its 2026 transfer class — with now 23 commitments or signings in the past eight days — as the portal window nears its close later this week.
South Alabama edge rusher Achilles Woods became the latest college-experienced player headed to Baton Rouge to join a revamped roster in new coach Lane Kiffin’s first year.
The 6-foot-3, 289-pound rising sophomore redshirted in 2024 before playing a steady role in the Jaguars’ rotation this fall with 12 appearances and 175 snaps in which he totaled 11 tackles, a sack and a quarterback hurry.

Woods is a Decatur, Ala., native who was also recruited by Georgia Tech, Memphis, UAB among others out of Austin High School in the 2024 cycle.
He joins South Carolina’s Jaylen Brown and Tennessee’s Jordan Ross as edge rushers in LSU’s incoming transfer class, as well as a pair of defensive linemen in Clemson’s Stephiylan Green and Auburn’s Malik Blocton helping bolster the defensive front.
Safeties Ty Benefield (Boise State) and Treylan James (Southern) have also signed to defensive coordinator Blake Baker and company on that side of the ball.
