LSU target Javon Vital Jr. set to commitment, Tulane commit Trez Davis opens eyes | Recruit Dat Boot

Recruit Dat Boot

Louisiana’s second commitment announcement for its talented 2027 class is now set.

Hamilton Christian star Javon Vital Jr. will share his college plans Thursday with home-state LSU looming large among a final group that also includes USC, UCLA, Houston and Sacramento State.

[Update: Javon Vital decided later Wednesday to postpone his commitment until after the season.]

The versatile three-phase and multisport playmaker is ranked No. 9 overall and the No. 1 “ATH” in Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s 2027 rankings for the class.

On this week’s “Recruit Dat Boot,” Jerit Roser and Sam Spiegelman talk about some of the potential that has made Vital such a priority for staffs and LSU and other notable programs, as well as the confidence level that the Tigers can ultimately keep him in-state for college.

The guys also share some of the latest on another pair of Louisiana’s best prospects: 2027 Sam Houston offensive lineman Albert Simien and 2026 West Monroe wide receiver Trez Davis (Tulane).

Simien is fresh off a visit to Notre Dame as the Fighting Irish try to make their case among a long list of offers that includes LSU, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Tennessee and others.

Jerit and Sam discussed the Broncos’ star, the No. 1 prospect in Louisiana’s 2027 class, in last week’s “Recruit Dat Boot” as one of the breakout or next-gear standouts of the state’s high school season thus far.

Davis, who was also discussed in the same context last season, is fresh off an eye-catching 200-plus, three-touchdown performance last week against Alexandria that helped lead his Rebels’ comeback, secure Louisiana vs. All Y’all Player of the Week recognition and earn a new offer from Houston.

Now, attention turns to whether the Green Wave will be able to hold on the his commitment with the Cougars — and Jerit and Sam expect others — beginning to turn up their recruiting efforts.

Make sure to keep an eye on the Louisiana vs. All Y’all channel for fresh episodes of “Recruit Dat Boot” every week, which will typically be scheduled for release on Wednesday mornings — with occasional exceptions such as this week.
