The Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association’s statewide football polls saw its fewest shifts yet this season heading into Week 8.
All five classifications maintained the same top five rankings, including an unchanged top 10 in Class 4A and unchanged top nine in Class 1A.
Destrehan, Marksville, Kinder and North Iberville overtook the No. 10 spots in Class 5A, Class 3A, Class 2A and Class 1A, respectively, after most recently landing in the “receiving votes” category outside of their top 10s.
And the only teams to move up multiple spots in their classes were: Catholic-Baton Rouge (No. 7 from No. 9) and Evangel Christian (No. 8 from No. 10) in Class 5A and South Plaquemine (No. 6 from No. 8) and Mangham (No. 8 from No. 10) in Class 2A.
