Unpacking LSU-Vandy, Tulane-Army, CFB Week 8, plus Top HS Plays | PODnas

Multiple things can be true at once.

Vanderbilt is a much-improved football program, a loss to which isn’t the same degree of indictment it may have been historically.

LSU’s performance Saturday in Nashville, Tenn., was a disappointment as the same frustrating shortcomings of a team once viewed as a potential College Football Playoff contender cost its second loss by mid-October.

Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s “PODnas,” Jerit Roser and Daniel Hawkes, dove into the Tigers’ tumble, the headliner of a tough Week 8 of NCAA college football season overall for the state.

On the bright side, they also recapped Tulane’s thrilling comeback against Army to keep its own CFP hopes alive and looked at this week’s four candidates for High School Play of the Week.

LSU and Tulane garner the deepest dives, but the guys also touch upon Louisiana (Lafayette), ULM and New Orleans Saints losses, as well as the big SEC battles in which Georgia and Alabama topped Ole Miss and Tennessee, respectively.

And the high school plays segment is always a highlight during football season.

Featured this week: Catholic-Baton Rouge running back Jayden Miles, Madison Prep athlete Landon “Manu” Johnson, Haynesville athlete L’Travious Brooks and East Ascension offensive lineman Brysten Martinez and receiver Jeremyah Merriweather.

“PODnas” episodes are scheduled for Tuesday and Friday mornings during football season to recap and preview the biggest games and storylines with a particular focus on Louisiana.
