A pair of top-five teams meet Thursday in a rematch of one of the wilder games of Louisiana’s 2024 high school football season.
Class 3A No. 1 Jewel Sumner (4-0) will make the short trip to Class 4A No. 5 Franklinton (3-1) to help kick off a loaded Week 5 schedule around the state.
The LHSAA Network will broadcast the North Shore and Florida Parishes battle with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. from Demon Stadium.
A year ago, Franklinton came back in the second half to claim a 42-39 overtime thriller as one of the early galvanizing moments in an 11-game win streak all the way back to the program’s first Caesars Superdome appearance since 2010.
The Demons have appeared to be among the top contenders in the Division-II Non-Select field once again in the early-going this year and will look for another good pre-district win before a potentially pivotal District 7-4A opener next week against Lakeshore.
Jewel Sumner has meanwhile risen to the top of the Class 3A vote by rolling to its second straight 4-0 start while other top teams in the classification have stumbled to a loss or two each during the first four weeks.
The Cowboys will try to return the the home field-spoiling favor this year and also seek their first 5-0 start in a few years: technically 2021 in the results, or 2020 on the field.
