One week into Louisiana’s high school football season, and one of the top-ranked teams in the LSWA’s preseason polls has already stumbled.
Carencro, which received votes in the initial Class 5A polls, upended crosstown rival St. Thomas More, tied for the preseason No. 1 in Class 4A, for the first time since 2006.
The matchup was one of the headliners of eight top-five and 19 top-10 teams to suffer Week 1 losses thus far heading into Saturday’s slate.
