Home-state LSU has extended just a handful of offers to Louisiana 2028 prospects so far, but the latest two both reside in WAMPville, U.S.A.

Westgate teammates Cayden Lancelin and Chance Archangel, two of Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s top-ranked prospects in their class, both reported offers Sunday, bringing the Tigers’ in-state total for the cycle to five.

Both players expressed their amazement at the significance of the the Tigers joining their rapidly growing recruiting processes.

“Wow, this really happened,” Lancelin said of his reaction. “I’ve been watching LSU since I was little. I mean it’s great that I got it. It feels good to know that my home state offered me and has been looking and recruiting since I was a freshman.”

Added Archangel: “Watching LSU as a kid, now being able to have an opportunity to play for them in two years is crazy to me. Watching those games with my dad on a Saturday, maybe some day that would be me playing in Death Valley sometimes, I’m still trying to process all of this.”
And for longtime teammates on both the football field and the basketball court, they said being able to celebrate the moment together was even sweeter.

“Cayden, that’s my best friend,” Archangel said. “These are things we talked about. Getting offers with my Day 1 means a lot, like we might possibly have a shot to play in high school and college together, which is outrageous.”

Said Lancelin: “It means a lot. We get to experience the next level together.”

Archangel is the top overall prospect in the state’s 2028 class in Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s rankings, which were most recently updated prior to this past season.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive end then earned All-District 4-4A honors this fall with 78 tackles, including seven sacks, and has continued to rack up high-profile offers during the past two-plus months with LSU, Alabama, Texas, South Alabama and Syracuse joining previous offers from Texas A&M, USC, Miami, Mississippi State, Houston, SMU and Baylor.

Lancelin, the No. 6 overall prospect, has shown impressive flashes as both a big-play wide receiver and a playmaking safety.

The 6-foot, 180-pound two-way standout picked up early offers from Miami, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Houston, Auburn and Tulane last summer and has added Syracuse, South Alabama, Ole Miss, Kentucky, TCU and now LSU early in the new calendar year.

Coach Lane Kiffin, wide receivers coach George McDonald and company view him as an explosive weapon on offense at the next level with Lancelin saying the Tigers’ coaches pointed to his knack for the deep ball and “aggressive catches” with his combination of speed and ball skills.
