LSU’s search for its next head coach will be one of the nation’s most interesting college sports stories to watch during the coming two months.
The Tigers’ search for their next football leader following Brian Kelly’s firing Sunday features a job opening widely considered one of the best positions in the industry, but also some particularly interesting circumstances in the equation.
The university is still working to hire a new president, and the state’s governor is involved in a more hands-on capacity in the meantime. And officials are still ironing out the financial details of Kelly’s separation agreement even as their national search for his replacement begins.
Additionally, LSU enters a market already with a slew of other notable vacancies, including Florida, Penn State, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Stanford and UCLA, and more potentially on the horizon.
BetOnline has already released its initial list of betting odds to be hired as the Tigers’ next head coach with some familiar names topping the list in Tulane coach Jon Sumrall; Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, the passing game coordinator on the Tigers’ 2019 national championship team; and Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.
