Quitman’s reign in Class B continued Sunday, but not without having to sweat out title No. 3 a bit down the stretch.

Sophomore shortstop Hallie Kate Pullig hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to allow the No. 2 Wolverines to play from ahead throughout. And when No. 4 Anacoco pulled back within 7-5 late with three runs in the top of the seventh, senior Maggie Guyote took the circle and recorded the final out to shut the door.

Sophomore Brenna Lamkin pitched the bulk of the game, striking out four and consistently working out of jams in time to help strand 13 Indians in all and keep the lead in hand.

Sophomore left fielder Briley Bowers finished 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI.

Sophomore catcher Kinsley Ponder had a double, a single and a run, and eighth-grade second baseman Amelia Staggs had two singles and an RBI.

Freshman third baseman Sarie Procell drove home four of Anacoco’s five runs with a sacrifice fly in the second and a three-RBI double in the seventh.

Senior shortstop Emilee D’Amico and freshman first baseman Bella Shapkoff each added doubles for the Indians, and eighth-grade right fielder Bree Dowden had three singles and two runs.

Quitman had been 0-for-4 in title appearances prior to 2024, but has now won three consecutive championships.
