The clock struck midnight on St. Frederick’s Cinderella run Sunday, and top-seed Riverside Academy was more than happy to help turn those hands in dominant and expeditious fashion.

The No. 1 Rebels sent that message early with a four-run first, then walked-off the 11-1 Division-IV Select championship victory with another four runs in the fifth.

Delta State signee Kamryn Cancienne allowed just three hits and a walk and struck out four batters.

Senior second baseman Makenzie Granier drew a one-out walk to begin the big first inning and her 2-for-3 afternoon with two singles, five RBIs and two runs.

Freshman designated player Layla Price led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run to finish 1-for-2, and senior first baseman Jace Bordelon went 1-for-3 with a double, two singles, two RBIs and a run.

Six different Rebels recorded hits, and all nine reached base in some fashion or another as they added seven walks and two hit batters to their efforts and cashed six of those free passes in for runs.

The championship marks Riverside Academy’s third overall and first since 2023 when Cancienne, Granier, Bordelon and this year’s graduating class were freshmen.
