Two Week 9 battles of unbeaten teams — the last on the regular-season schedule — marked this weekend’s lone first blemishes to previously undefeated records.
Edna Karr topped John Curtis, 48-26, with its non-stop pressure and series of high-impact takeaways, while North DeSoto held off Loyola Prep, 63-49, with a pivotal stop late to provide the necessary separation in a high-powered shootout.
The Cougars and Griffins headlined 15 LHSAA teams to preserve their perfect records heading into Week 10.
Class 4A and Class 1A boast the most remaining undefeated teams based on classifications with four each: Iowa, North DeSoto, Teurlings Catholic and Vandebilt Catholic in 4A and Ascension Episcopal, Hamilton Christian, Haynesville and Westminster-Opelousas in 1A.
Among playoff brackets, Division-IV Select holds the most remaining unbeaten participants with four: Ascension Episcopal, Hamilton Christian, Ouachita Christian and Westminster-Opelousas.
