LSU adds three more notable offensive weapons from transfer portal

LSU continued retooling its offense Monday via the transfer portal with a trio of weapons for coach Lane Kiffin, offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. and company.

The Tigers landed Old Dominion star Eugene “Tre” Brown III on Monday evening to go with earlier additions of Utah running back Raycine Guillory and Pittsburgh tight end Malachi Thomas around midday, according to multiple reports from The Advocate and On3 among others.

Brown led the Monarchs this fall with 762 yards and four touchdowns on 38 catches in 13 games in his lone season with the program after winning a JUCO national championship at Hutchinson Community College.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Savannah, Ga., native was among the most explosive receivers in the country in 2025 with an average of 20.1 yards per catch — No. 9 among all Division-I FBS players, one of nine players over 20.0 yards per catch and just ahead of fellow LSU transfer commitment Jackson Harris (19.7) of Hawaii.

Kiffin and Tigers are in the process of replacing nearly all of the program’s receiving corps and offensive production overall from this fall and have quickly hit on a few notable pieces of that puzzle in the first four days of the 15-day transfer portal window.

Harris committed Sunday and paired with Brown provides a tandem of receivers with good size and speed on the outside.

Guillory initially signed with the Utes as a three-star prospect out of Aledo High School in Fort Worth, Texas, in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

The 5-foot-9, 190-pound athlete saw limited action as a true freshman and will arrive in Baton Rouge with four years of eligibility remaining to bolster a thin backfield headlined by rising sophomore Harlem Berry (St. Martin’s Episcopal).

Thomas was a three-star prospect out of Thomas County Central (Thomasville, Ga.) in the 2024 class.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end played in 26 games the past two years with Pittsburgh with two catches for 22 yards and a touchdown as a true freshman and 13 receptions for 192 yards and two scores this past fall.

He joins a room with the Tigers led by rising junior Trey’Dez Green (East Feliciana, Zachary), along with redshirt freshman J.D. LaFleur (Sulphur) and incoming high school signee J.C. Anderson.

Thomas will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The Tigers are reported to be hosting several transfer targets early this week, including Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt, as they work to almost entirely rebuild their offense around key returners such as Berry and Green.
