LSU adds USC transfer Husan Longstreet to quickly exciting QB room

LSU’s quarterback room has gone from no scholarship players to arguably one of the nation’s most intriguing in a span of less than 72 hours.

Former five-star prospect Husan Longstreet became the latest Baton Rouge-bound transfer Wednesday morning in potentially a major coup for coach Lane Kiffin, offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. and company as they rebuild the roster — and its most important position — in their first weeks with the program.

Longstreet joins Arizona State star Sam Leavitt, the top-ranked player in this year’s transfer class, and Elon star Landen Clark, the Colonial Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year, in the Tigers’ incoming class.

Longstreet graduated early from local Centennial High (Compton, Calif.), enrolled in hometown USC last January and appeared in four games as a true freshman this fall with 103 yards and a touchdown on 13-for-15 passing and 11 carries for another 76 yards and two scores.

The 6-foot, 200-pound was a consensus top-10 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class nationally — as high as No. 3 by On3 — and top-100 prospect overall — as high as No. 13 by On3 — after a decorated prep career.

He arrives to Baton Rouge as both an immediate insurance policy for Leavitt’s recovery from his Lisfranc ligament injury and surgery and potentially a highly promising quarterback for the future with still four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Longstreet is the 30th member overall of LSU’s incoming transfer class, which appears to be nearly complete but with room for another couple of finishing pieces — with a particular focus on the offensive line.
