LSU fell out of both major national polls Sunday less than a month after being a top-five team in both.
A deflating 49-25 home loss to Texas A&M (8-0, 5-0) on Saturday tumbled the Tigers (5-3, 2-3) from top-20 spots in last week’s AP and Coaches polls into the “receiving votes” category of the latest editions related Sunday.
Coach Brian Kelly and company received the 32nd- and 31st-most votes in this week’s polls, respectively, as a team once with College Football Playoff goals and expectations suffered its third loss in its past four games.
Tulane is now Louisiana’s program earning the most voting traction from both the national media and coaches.
The Green Wave, which had a bye this week, received the 27th- and 28th-most votes Sunday, knocking entering November at both top-25 status and the top of the Group-of-Five pack led by Memphis (No. 25 on both lists) and Navy (No. 23 in the Coaches).
Both lists remained the steadiest at the top they’ve been all season, led by No. 1 Ohio State (7-0), No. 2 Indiana (8-0), No. 3 Texas A&M (8-0), No. 4 Alabama (7-1) and No. 5 Georgia (6-1).
