LSU’s Brian Kelly firing’s recruiting impact, plus Kervin Johnson, Malachi Zeigler updates | Recruit Dat Boot

The 2026 recruiting class is in its final countdown, just over a month out from the earning signing period in December.

And LSU is now without a head coach during a potentially pivotal stretch following the university’s firing Sunday of Brian Kelly.

Louisiana vs. All Y’all “Recruit Dat Boot” co-hosts Jerit Roser and Sam Spiegelman take a deep dive into the recruiting implications of the Tigers’ move and the important storylines to watch as interim coach Frank Wilson III and company work to maintain the current class and put together a staff for the future.

Can LSU hang on stars such as Lamar Brown (University Lab), Richard Anderson (Edna Karr) and Jabari Mack (Destrehan) in state and Havon Finny Jr., Trenton Henderson and DeAnthony Lafayette out of state to name a few?

What factors will be important to do so? And how challenging is the current timeline for a coaching search given the recruiting calendar?

On the bright side, the Tigers added a new commitment Monday from Tioga star Kervin Johnson Jr., who should fit in well with Mack and Kenny Darby (Airline) in the receiving class.

And Jerit and Sam catch back up on 2027 Benton star Malachi Zeigler announcing his commitment to SMU, becoming Louisiana’s second member of his class to announce his college plans.

Make sure to keep an eye on the Louisiana vs. All Y’all channel for fresh episodes of “Recruit Dat Boot” every week, which will typically be scheduled for release on Wednesday mornings — with occasional exceptions such as this week.
