LVAY’s ‘Shootouts & Shutouts’ for LHSAA Week 1

Every week of the Louisiana high school football season features some memorable thrillers and some muscle-flexing routs.

And every week, Louisiana vs. All Y’all will highlight some of the most notable as part of our new “Shootouts & Shutouts” feature.

For our purposes, we’ll define shootouts as games featuring at least 70 combined points and with final margins within single digits.

And shutouts, well, shutouts should be pretty self-explanatory.

We’ll compile the lists from games the scores for which have been officially submitted to the LHSAA. But feel free to let us know if you have another score that should be included, but has yet to be submitted.

Six different Week 1 games fit our shootout qualifications.

The highest-scoring, single-digit matchup belonged to Madison Prep outlasting Dutchtown — a huge early-season victory for the Class 3A Chargers, who continue matching up well against Class 5A competition.

Madison Prep edged reigning Division-I Non-Select champion Central in the teams’ scrimmage two weeks ago and were nip-and-tuck with consistent Division-I Select contender Catholic-B.R. in last week’s jamboree.

Twenty-four shutouts have been reported to the LHSAA — the most lopsided of which belonged to Westminster Christian with its 62-0 roll past Pine Prairie, followed closely by Belle Chasse beating Eleanor McMain, 61-0.
