Tulane moved up another couple spots in both major polls Sunday to wrap up the regular season.
The No. 21 Green Wave (10-2, 7-1) shut out Charlotte (1-11, 0-8) to earn the a home American Athletic Conference title game Friday against No. 20 North Texas (11-1, 7-1).
Both AAC rivals continued to close the gap on James Madison (10-1), of the Sun Belt, in the polls as the highest-ranked program in a conference outside of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC.
More importantly, though, Tulane figures to continue leading that pack in the College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesdays.
Coach Jon Sumrall was announced Sunday to be accepting the the same position for Florida, but he expressed his desire to continue coaching the Green Wave, which hosts the Mean Green at 8 p.m. Friday in Yulman Stadium.
