Louisiana high school football is nearly one-third of its way through its regular season, and upheaval in the rankings remains an early-season theme.
For the second straight week, nine top-five teams in the LSWA statewide polls suffered losses, bringing the three-week total to 26 top-five losses to headline a combined 47 losses overall by teams ranked in the top 10 at the time.
This week’s stumbles included a pair of No. 1 teams in Franklin Parish and St. James in Class 4A and Class 3A, respectively, with the Wildcats among four of Class 3A’s top five teams in this past week’s rankings all falling — notably, though, to Class 5A opponents.
