The start of October hasn’t been particularly packed with fresh recruiting news in Louisiana — yet — as high school teams settle into their stride and most of the state’s college enjoyed byes.
But the LHSAA regular season is officially at its midway mark, and the lighter news week allowed Louisiana vs. All Y’all “Recruit Dat Boot” cohosts Jerit Roser and Sam Spiegelman an opportunity to reflect on the first five weeks from the perspectives of both teams and prospects.
Jerit and Sam rolled with a draft format, because, well, that’s just a more fun way to organize these conversations when the topics lend themselves to doing so. And thus, welcome to the “2025 LHSAA Midseason Draft.”
The guys each selected:
- one potential championship contender in whom he was most confident in completing the title mission
- one team that has surprised with its first-half success or at least exceeded preseason expectations
- one team that has started with a losing record out of the gate, but whom we remain confident the rest of the way
- two seniors who have enjoyed breakout seasons thus far or whose games or recruitments have hit another gear
- two non-seniors who have enjoyed breakout seasons thus far or whose games or recruitments have hit another gear
The players discussed span all five area codes, and the teams selected span four of the five.
And LSU, Tulane and Nicholls State commits and targets are among some of the in-state college recruiting connections covered.
Make sure to keep an eye on the Louisiana vs. All Y’all channel for fresh episodes of “Recruit Dat Boot” every week, which will typically be scheduled for release on Wednesday mornings — with occasional exceptions such as this week.
A few more fun, big-picture concepts are on deck for upcoming episodes before shifting into playoff-mode in November, but there are also some behind-the-scenes rumblings of potential upcoming news developments to hit on soon. So some of that scheduling will be played by ear.
