Quarterback Sam Leavitt headlined a few notable upgrades on LSU’s injury report Thursday as its SEC opener at Ole Miss approaches.
The Tigers’ starting field general was listed “questionable” in the latest update provided to the SEC office after being “doubtful” in Wednesday’s initial report.
Reserve linebacker Tylen Singleton (Many) was upgraded from “questionable” to “probable” and tight end Trey’Dez Green (East Feliciana, Zachary) and linebacker Whit Weeks were both removed from the report entirely after being listed “probable” on Wednesday.
Leavitt has led an offense that has shown explosive flashes due in no small part to abilities to extend or make plays with his legs and to drive the ball downfield to his speedy weapons, including a career-high 344 yards Saturday against Louisiana Tech.
His four interceptions through two contests, including three against the Bulldogs, have also been a major discussion point this week ahead of his and the team’s first road trip and SEC game, a highly anticipated showdown with coach Lane Kiffin’s previous program.
The transfer from Arizona State has completed 41 of his 66 passes thus far (62.1%) for 574 yards, two touchdowns and the four picks and has rushed 23 times for 135 yards and five more scores.
The only change on the Ole Miss side was an upgrade of running back Makhi Frazier from “questionable” to “probable.”
