Ouachita Christian appeared Friday to be heading into new season already clicking in impressive fashion in all three phases.
The Eagles, considered among the state’s top Division-IV Select contenders, rolled to a 28-7 defeat of St. Frederick in the local rivals’ Bayou Jamb matchup.
OCS stuffed the Warriors on three straight defensive three-and-outs to open the matchup, then added an interception by senior defensive back Asher Anderson on the fourth series.
Meanwhile, senior running back Jude Turner helped lead the way as the offense took advantage of largely short fields and grinded its way fairly seamlessly to the end zone on its first two possessions.
When the Eagles needed to work more quickly just before the break, junior quarterback Tristan Raymond hit junior wide receiver Luke Edwards on a deep shot just shy of the goal line to set up Turner’s third short touchdown run of the afternoon.
Raymond and Edwards linked up for a touchdown early in the second half.
And the defense continued to hold the Warriors scoreless until senior wide receiver Stephen Austin took a quick pass from senior quarterback Michael Malloy, broke a tackle and slices his way to the end zone.
