Just a few years after “Why not LSU?” gained traction as a recruiting and commitment slogan, Ahmad Hudson essentially said, “Why wait?”
The highly touted Ruston tight end and multisport star had zeroed in last month on a top two of the home-state Tigers and Nebraska with official visits slated to each in June and an anticipated mid-summer announcement date for a final decision.
But Hudson shared his pledge Sunday, officially adding another major in-state piece to the 2027 class for Lane Kiffin and company in Baton Rouge — including basketball coach Will Wade — and providing some major momentum heading into the summer.
The athletic 6-foot-7, 240-pound pass-catcher, the No. 5 prospect in Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s class rankings, is widely considered one of the top prospects not only in the state, but in the nation.
He brings LSU’s football class to five commitments, including three in-state stars, along with Evangel Christian quarterback Peyton “Pop” Houston, Cecilia receiver/athlete Braylon Calais, Irmo (S.C.) edge rusher Jaiden “Boog” Bryant and Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fla.) wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens.
Hudson, also the state’s top-ranked basketball prospect, has remained adamant on his intentions to play both sports at the next level and marks the first member of the Tigers’ 2027 class following Wade’s return this offseason.
