The 2025-26 NBA season is already underway with a pair of fun Western Conference matchups already in the books.
New Orleans joins the party Wednesday with a road opener in Memphis for the first official look at this year’s Pelicans after an offseason of some notable shakeup.
Various sportsbooks have set the over/under for the team’s projected win total at 30.5, 31.5 or 32.5.
Will the Pelicans meet that betting threshold? Can they make the playoffs in the spring? What’s the ceiling?
Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s “PODnas,” Jerit Roser and Daniel Hawkes, chatted this past week about their expectations and focal points to watch for a potentially pivotal season to watch under some new leadership and after a couple splashy trades.
New Orleans fired executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin following last season and quickly replaced him with Joe Dumars, the former Natchitoches Central, McNeese State and Detroit Pistons star.
The Pelicans then traded C.J. McCollum and Kelly Olynyk to the Washington Wizards for Jordan Poole and Saddiq Bey, signed longtime Golden State Warriors big man Kevon Looney and drafted Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears, Maryland big man Derik Queen and Georgetown wing Micah Peavy — Queen in a potentially costly wager of a draft-day deal with the Atlanta Hawks.
And, perhaps most importantly, star forwards Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy and Herbert Jones all open the season healthy.
Make sure to keep up with all the new episodes of “PODnas” or catch up on other video content on the Louisiana vs. All Y’all channel.
“PODnas” episodes are scheduled for Tuesday and Friday mornings during football season to recap and preview the biggest games and storylines with a particular focus on Louisiana — along with additional episodes or necessary schedule adjustments as basketball ramps up in October, football moves into its postseason in December and other notable topics arise.
