A loaded Week 4 slate around Louisiana featured some new season-leaders in “Shootouts & Shutouts” world.
While the action provided several close games, only a few hit the high-scoring benchmark for LVAY “Shootouts” distinction. But a couple were the highest scoring games of the entire season thus far.
Episcopal-Baton Rouge held off Metairie Park Country, 64-57, in another eye-popping matchup that nearly matched last season’s 66-57 final.
The 121-point total was enough to eclipse Sulphur’s wild 55-54 rally past Sam Houston — at lest in terms of the combined score, though the overall storyline of the Tors’ furious erasure of a late 23-point deficit has a case among the best anywhere in the state.
On the “Shutouts” side, Logansport rolled past Delta Charter, 62-0, to match the largest victories in the state thus far this season.
Other matchups, such as Madison Prep’s 61-0 domination of Broadmoor, weren’t far behind.
Each week the past couple seasons, Louisiana vs. All Y’all tries to spotlight and track some of the most numerically notable outcomes each week of the LHSAA season with “Shootouts & Shutouts.”
The “Shootouts” lists contain all games decided by single digits in which the teams combined for at least 70 points, while obviously the “Shutouts” include all games in which one team held its opponent completely scoreless.
