Washington State added another major recruiting win Tuesday to its current hot streak on New Orleans’ West Bank.
Archbishop Shaw defensive back Jackson Williams announced his commitment to the Cougars, less than 24 hours after backing off his prior pledge to hometown Tulane amid its ongoing coaching change.
He joined nearby Edna Karr teammates in quarterback John Johnson and running back Tre Garrison as three new additions from the area to the Washington State class in less than a month.
Williams is the No. 22 overall prospect and No. 7 defensive back in Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s 2026 class rankings, which were most recently updated prior to this season.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound versatile athlete in the secondary was a notable recruiting coup for Tulane to keep in-state when he committed in early June over Florida State, Louisiana (Lafayette), South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin.
Washington State extended his most recent offer in mid-October during a rush of offers in New Orleans that also included Garrison and Johnson.
Tulane coach, Jon Sumrall, was introduced Monday by Florida as the next head coach of the Gators.
Williams reopened his recruitment that evening and announced his new plan to sign Wednesday with the Cougars.
