LSWA Statewide Football Polls | Week 8

Catholic-Baton Rouge, Lutcher and Loreauville joined the top 10 in Class 5A, Class 3A and Class 2A, respectively, of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s statewide polls after major rivalry wins Friday.

The latest lists released Monday morning featured minimal shakeup overall as many teams have appeared to clarify their positions in the overall pecking order through a month and a half of great slates of highly competitive matchups scheduled by contenders.

Edna Karr, Westgate, St. Charles Catholic, Calvary Baptist and Ouachita Christian continue to lead their respective classifications as they have much of the season.

St. Charles Catholic joined Calvary Baptist as a unanimous No. 1, and Ouachita Christian (10), Edna Karr (9) and Westgate (8) each earned more than two-thirds of the 11 available first-place votes in their classes.

The other biggest climbs this week were two-spot moves by Mandeville to No. 8 in Class 5A, Lake Charles College Prep to No. 6 in Class 4A and Jena and Eunice to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, in Class 3A.

Class 1A was entirely unchanged in terms of rankings with only slight shifts of voting totals.
