Week 6 high school action around Louisiana featured some eye-catching scores — more so with higher-ranked teams hitting their strides and flexing their muscles than with many notable stumbles.
Only two top-five and five other top-10 teams in this past week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association statewide polls for all five classifications suffered losses.
Five of those seven losses came in matchups with other ranked teams: four to higher-ranked teams and another in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown.
After so much chaos in the first half of the season, the state’s top contenders and more consistent teams appear to be setting themselves apart — and being more accurately identified in the polls in the process.
