LSU’s outlook, challenges visiting Auburn, Saints signs of life, LHSAA Week 8 | The Sidelined Coach

LSU and the New Orleans Saints both earned victories on the same weekend for the first time this season.

The Tigers (5-2, 2-2) cruised past Mississippi State (4-2, 2-2) in a 31-0 shutout that marked their first against an SEC opponent in nearly two decades, and the Saints ended a three-game skid with a rollercoaster trip to New York in which they scored 34 straight points to help down the Giants, 34-27.

Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s “The Sidelined Coach” co-hosts Jerit Roser and Cordae Hankton, a longtime high school and college coach, broke down the biggest takeaways from the latest contests and expectations of how both teams can build on the shake-back showings heading into their next matchups.

LSU visits Auburn (4-2, 2-2), fresh off an upset of No. 1 Georgia (6-1, 4-1), with coach Lane Kiffin and company seeking their first road win of the season.

As encouraging as LSU’s fast start Saturday in an 11 a.m. kickoff was, can the Tigers manage a similarly tone-setting performance on the road?

Quarterback Sam Leavitt has the most efficient performance of his career, and the defense appears to be continuing to settle in with players such as junior linebacker Davhon Keys stepping up in bigger roles amid the roster’s rash of injuries.

How does the matchup with Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown compare to other games thus far this season, and do we expect to see from coach Blake Baker’s defense?

And, of course, one of the topics of the week: Is Jordan-Hare Stadium haunted?

This week’s “Sidelined Coach” covers all those bases, whether to buy-in on a potential Saints resurgence and quick looks at some of the biggest Week 7 and Week 8 high school games around the state, including Edna Karr’s survival of Archbishop Rummel and a look ahead to Alexandria-Ruston and others.
