The constantly evolving landscape of media has been a hot — and, at times, heated — topic early this school and sports year as increasing numbers of independent content creators continue to hit high school sidelines.
Greater freedom and accessibility to create and grow platforms outside of the traditional newspaper, television and radio avenues has opened more opportunities for more talented photographers and videographers (among other roles) to gain experiences and find audiences and, in the process, help further spotlight schools, teams and student-athletes.
But that drastically lowered threshold has also raised some logistical issues and other concerns as many schools try to maintain or improve the integrity of their sidelines in terms of both quantity and quality of media permitted.
Louisiana vs. All Y’all founder, editor and lead reporter Jerit Roser joined the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s new “The Beyond Pod: Inside the LHSAA” podcast to discuss some of his background and perspective on the issue.
Roser spent nearly a decade in traditional media roles, including tenures at The News-Star and The Times-Picayune, before another decade split between roles in education (including both college and high school) and digital media with times with Rivals, On3 and Prep Redzone Louisiana in addition to the build of Louisiana vs. All Y’all.

LHSAA director of communications Ethan Anderson launched “The Beyond Pod” this year as an opportunity to better inform the state on the role and functions of the association and promote better transparency in its operation.
