High-flying offensive fireworks filled the cool night air around Louisiana during LHSAA’s Week 8 action Thursday and Friday.
Ten matchups of 70-plus combined points decided by less than 10 points or fewer — the bar for our weekly “Shootouts” list — marked the most in any week this season and nearly double the past two weeks’ totals combined.
Week 8 topped that distinction even without counting other high-scoring affairs such as North DeSoto topping Franklin Parish, 78-64, in a Division-II Non-Select showdown that feature a week-best 142 points.
Baker and Leesville topped the week’s 24 shutouts with 62 points each in their rolls past Morris Jeff and LaGrange, respectively, and John F. Kennedy joined them in a win of 60-plus points with its 61-0 rout of Eleanor McMain.
