Recruit Dat Boot

This offseason has been loaded with notable roster movement for Louisiana high school football programs, and another major transfer — the biggest headliner to date — became public Friday.

Highly touted, Georgia-committed 2027 quarterback Colton Nussmeier has enrolled at Archbishop Rummel, as first reported by Crescent City Sports and Rivals.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound passer is the son of second-year New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, a former quarterback for the franchise, and younger brother of former LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who was drafted this spring by the Kansas City Chiefs.

After playing the bulk of his career in Texas, the younger Nussmeier now arrives to Metairie to join both a talented Raiders program that figures to be a factor in an intriguing New Orleans Catholic League district battle and a loaded Louisiana quarterback class that also features LSU commit Peyton “Pop” Houston at Evangel Christian and Alabama commit Elijah Haven at Dunham.

Louisiana vs. All Y’all’s “Recruit Dat Boot” co-hosts Jerit Roser and Sam Spiegelman led off this week’s episode letting fans know more about the latest Nussmeier set to sling the ball in The Boot.

Roser and Spiegelman also react to the latest updates on two of Louisiana’s other top 2027 prospects: Texas-committed Brother Martin wide receiver Easton Royal, whom the Tigers (and Florida) continue to pursue, and LSU-committed Ruston tight end and two-sport star Ahmad Hudson, for whom Nebraska continues to push.

We hear the latest on the state’s top uncommitted 2027 prospects entering senior year: Westgate safety Karon Eugene and Zachary wide receiver Ethan Kimmie.

Plus, a belated discussion on new University Lab running back Caiden Bellard, who transferred last week from Lafayette Christian where he had an all-state sophomore season last fall.

Louisiana vs. All Y’all “Recruit Dat Boot” co-hosts Jerit Roser and Sam Spiegelman touched base on some of the latest major developments for a few of the state’s most highly regarded 2027 prospects.

But they also used another new development for Haven, a historic NIL deal with Electronic Arts (the designer of countless top sports video games, as a jumping-off point for a special episode of the show.

Jerit and Sam spent most of an hour drafting rosters for a hypothetical Louisiana high school football video game as a fun way to spotlight some of the most memorable performers and prospects from the past decade and a half.

The premise was of course to focus on the draftees as high school players as opposed to what levels they may have reached in college or the NFL. So, Leonard Fournette at St. Augustine as opposed to at LSU or in Jacksonville or Tampa Bay, or Easton Royal at Brother Martin and not necessarily where he ends up in another year and a half.

(Note: Jerit maintains Sam’s selection of Trey’ Dez Green at his LSU tight end position and not his Zachary wide receiver spot is, in fact, cheating!)

And the guys also tried to lean into the video-game angle in terms of athletic, traitsy, cheat-code type players.
