LSU is rolling in a flurry of commitments on the heels of the first weekend of June, including a fast-rising in-state prospect Monday morning among the program’s four pledges in two days.
Multisport and two-way Northwest star Markez Davis, pursued by Tigers secondary coach Corey Raymond as a cornerback, joined three out-of-state recruiting wins.
He joined highly touted Stephenson (Stone Mountain, Ga.) edge rusher K.J. Green and Frisco (Texas) running back Brennen Lacey, who both made their announcements Sunday, and Malvern Prep (Pennsylvania) wide receiver Cade Cooper.
The quartet brings the Tigers’ total commitment number to eight members of the 2027 class.
Green, a four-star and top-50 national prospect, represents a quick replacement for longtime pledge Jaiden “Boog” Bryant of Irmo (S.C.), who flipped this past week to Miami.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound edge rusher is ranked No. 48 overall and No. 8 at his position, according to the Rivals | On3 industry rankings averaging rankings of the major national networks.
Lacey and Davis become the Tigers’ first two commitments at their respective positions, and Cooper joins Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) star Ah’Mari Stevens as wide receivers in the class.
Davis has been a standout for his Raiders on both the football field — particularly as a springy, athletic wide receiver — and basketball court throughout his high school career, but particularly gained recruiting steam during the past couple months.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound athlete is tabbed as a major riser in the next round of Louisiana vs. All Y’all rankings updates expected to land in the top 25 of the state’s class.
The 6-foot-1, 187-pound Lacey is a three-star prospect according to the Rivals | On3, and the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Cooper a four-star.
